Special Care Nursery
Unit Description:
- 12 Special care nursery beds
- Our Special Care nursery typically handles babies delivered at 30 weeks or later, those in respiratory distress who require a ventilator, or newborns who need antibiotic therapy. We work closely with families to continuously communicate baby's progress and encourage bonding with mother for care and feeding to help promote baby's wellness.

Educational Opportunities:
One, eight-hour paid educational day (with hospital paying up to $100 toward educational fee) offered yearly. CEU credits available by completing unit-specific learning packets. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) certification offered.
Staffing Schedules:
- Full-time
- Part-time
- PRN
- 12-hour shifts
- Days and nights
- Weekend requirement of two full weekends out of every six-week schedule
- Self-scheduling
Staff Mix:
RN Employment Requirement:
Neonatal Resuscitation Program and CPR certification required. Two years of experience required (Level III Newborn Intensive Care Nursery preferred - Level II or Special Care Nursery experience considered). Experience attending deliveries preferred. Well-baby nursery and pediatric experience a plus.
