Graduate Nurse Residency
Transitioning to the Registered Nurse Role
St. Luke's Hospital offers a supportive and dynamic educational environment for nurses. Once hired, we invite you to join our "Nurse Residency" to facilitate your transition to the Registered Nurse role. We are committed to mentoring graduate nurses to achieve the highest level of patient-focused care. St. Luke's is repeatedly honored through national recognitions for excellence.
The Residency program is offered to those graduates who are hired into a position at St. Luke's. Please apply for an RN position. The hiring manager will then schedule you to attend the Residency once you have accepted a position at St. Luke's. There is not a separate application process for the Residency. We congratulate you on your graduation and welcome you to the Nursing profession!
The GN Residency is offered in:
- Medical-Surgical
- Critical Care and Sub-acute Care
- Includes EKG and Critical Care course
- Emergency Department
- Disease Management
- Extensive Orientation Classes
- Patient Simulation Labs
- Priority setting and organizational skills
- IV therapy
- IV medication administration
- Blood transfusions
- Oxygen therapy
- Chest tubes
- Tracheostomy care
- Mock codes
- Critical thinking
