Curriculum

Curriculum events, in the form of "living human documents," exist in every encounter in the Hospital. Through pastoral practice, written and oral presentations, individual supervision, seminars and reading, leading worship, preaching and teaching, students develop and enhance caring pastoral relationships. Experiencing complex life situations from different viewpoints, students gain new insights and understandings about human relations. Theological reflection is important in CPE as students seek to find ways to integrate their theology with their life's experiences.

A wide variety of seminar methods are used to achieve competence in ministry. A graphic overview of our educational process is included in this packet for your review.

The learning group explores such questions as:
  • How do the coping patterns of individuals in crisis affect the delivery of pastoral care?

  • How do theological beliefs relate to pastoral interaction?

  • How do pastoral caregivers' religious histories and life experiences influence their work?
