Orientation for Experienced Nurses

St. Luke's provides a structured orientation for experienced RNs who are new to the hospital. You will complete a four to eight-week orientation to ensure you are well-acclimated to St. Luke's and your home division.

Your RN orientation will include both didactic and clinical aspects. Working with a preceptor, you will care for a team of patients during the course of your orientation. Your clinical experience will be coupled with class time, in which you will learn computerized documentation and other St. Luke's policies and procedures.

Your department manager and clinical educator will guide you through the orientation process, ensuring your needs are met and tailoring your orientation to your learning style.

Your classes will include the following:
  • Computerized documentation
  • Barcode Medication Administration
  • Medication Administration Day with your Clinical Educator
  • Pulmonary Review
  • IV troubleshooting and phlebotomy
  • St. Luke's nursing policies and procedures
