The Lactation Center at St. Luke's Hospital is a resource center for mothers who choose to breast feed. Staffed by certified lactation consultants, the center provides education and support for a successful breast-feeding experience. The center's lactation consultants are available to provide one-on-one care for mothers during their hospital stay. The center also offers a variety of services and products, including nursing bras, breast shields and breast pumps, for before and after childbirth.
Daily educational opportunities are offered to parents during their stay. Nurses are available to provide individualized infant care instruction and educational videotapes are available on various newborn topics. Each LDRP suite television broadcasts the Newborn Channel, a national television network for new parents. The channel provides 24-hour coverage of educational programs on such topics as newborn care, postpartum care and child development. A program guide is available in each LDRP suite. St. Luke's encourages new mothers and fathers to take advantage of these opportunities.
