St. Luke's annual heart fair on Saturday, February 5, 2005 was a success. More than 400 individuals attended A Fair of the Heart. Many who attended received FREE cholesterol screenings, pulmonary function tests or carotid artery screenings.
Richard Gimpelson, MD, shared his personal experience following his heart attack. Although his lighthearted humor kept the crowd laughing, his message was clear that heart disease affects everyone, and it is important to recognize the signs early.
Following Dr. Gimpelson, Tom O'Neal, anchor for Fox 2 News, moderated a panel of physicians as they discussed diagnosis, treatment and prevention of heart disease. Maged Haikal, MD, Daryl Jacobs, MD, and Ronald Leidenfrost, MD, all shared valuable information and encouraged the audience to ask questions regarding their heart health.
The morning concluded with Richard E. Collins, MD, the Cooking CardiologistTM, discussing ways to reduce inflammation of the heart. Dr. Collins also energized the audience with many heart-healthy cooking demonstrations.
