St. Luke's Hospital Achieves 2014 Outstanding Patient Experience Award

Chesterfield, Mo., April 8, 2014 - St. Luke's Hospital is a recipient of the 2014 Healthgrades® Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. This distinction places St. Luke's among the top five percent of hospitals nationwide based on an analysis of patient satisfaction data. This is the fourth year in a row (2011-2014) that St. Luke's has received this award.

"It is truly an honor to achieve an award based on how our patients rate their experiences at St. Luke's Hospital," said Diane Ray, St. Luke's Hospital vice president of patient services. "That's because our healthcare team's mission is to improve the quality of our patients' lives. Our physicians, staff members and volunteers work together to provide an exceptional experience for each patient."

To determine its 2014 Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients, Healthgrades analyzed HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) survey data obtained from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for April 2012 to March 2013. Hospitals had to meet survey response size and clinical quality thresholds in order to be eligible for the award.

In addition, St. Luke's is the only hospital in St. Louis to be named one of America's 50 Best Hospitals™ by Healthgrades since the inception of the list (2007-2014). This analysis is based on survival and complication rates, and Healthgrades annually evaluates each of the nation's nearly 4,500 non-government hospitals that treat Medicare patients. Hospitals cannot opt out of this analysis, and no hospital pays to be evaluated.

According to Healthgrades, St. Luke's also ranks among the top five percent of hospitals in the nation for overall cardiac services (2013-2014), overall pulmonary services (2003-2014) and neurosurgery (2012-2014), and St. Luke's is a recipient of the Healthgrades Women's Health Excellence Award™ (2009-2013).
