St. Luke's Hospice Services

With a focus on comfort and care, hospice is a specialized way of attending to patients who are nearing the end of their lives at home where they are comfortable and familiar with their surroundings. Providing hospice care allows us to care for our patients and their families through some of their most difficult times. We take great pride in providing compassionate care and in our ability to properly attend to and counsel patients as they make difficult end-of-life decisions about their treatments.
Hospice is able to focus not only the physical and emotional needs of patients with a life-limiting illness, but also their social and spiritual needs, as well as the needs of their family members. During care, hospice helps to lessen the severity of symptoms associated with a life-limiting illness. Hospice care takes into account that pain may be physical, emotional, spiritual, or financial in nature and considers pain control as an important clinical goal.

Gregory Genova, MD, is the medical director for Hospice Services. Dr. Genova earned his medical degree from St. Louis University and he completed his residency in internal medicine here at St. Luke’s Hospital, where he served as the chief resident. Board-certified in Geriatrics and Internal Medicine, Dr. Genova oversees Hospice Services, as well as his private practice (with offices in the WingHaven and South Medical Buildings) and teaches in the Internal Medicine Residency Program.
