This year has been a year of growth and change for St. Luke's Hospital's department of oncology. Most notably, we've seen the opening of the East Medical Building and have dedicated the Center for Cancer Care, which houses most of our cancer services. This new facility has made our processes more streamlined, but most importantly it has made access to services easier for our patients and their families.
This report highlights specific information about our cancer services and some of the many programs we offer cancer patients. We are profiling one of our patients who brings joy and hope to cancer management as she describes, in her own words, her experience in St. Luke's Center for Cancer Care.
Our commitment to clinical trials and research continues with our ongoing participation in the STAR trial and our launch of the Sister Study. A description and update of those programs are included in this report.
As we look to the future, our commitment to excellence will continue with ongoing focus on total patient care, growth within our department, and participation in new clinical trials and studies. We will continue to offer the latest technologies and treatments along with an effort to help patients and their families understand their illness with open communication and compassion. Most importantly, it is the commitment to excellence that each physician and staff member makes to each patient's diagnosis, treatment and overall care that makes our oncology program successful.
