Dear Friends:
I am pleased to share with you the 2005 annual report for St. Luke's Center for Cancer Care. This report chronicles the 1,224 new cancer patients my colleagues and I were privileged to care for over the past year. Although many of our patients shared the same diagnosis and prognosis, each received the kind of specialized care that is the hallmark of St. Luke's Center for Cancer Care. I credit our physicians and staff whose dedication and expertise have enabled this culture of patient-centered care to thrive, and I thank them for their ongoing commitment to the unique needs of our cancer patients and their families.
This report highlights several of our successful educational and preventative efforts. Over the past year, these programs and activities have helped thousands of individuals lead healthier lives. These outreach initiatives are at the very heart of our mission: to improve the health of the community.
As we continue to integrate the latest technologies, procedures, treatments and trials into our center, we remain focused on caring for each patient as an individual. We take pride in fostering relationships with our patients' referring physicians, to provide the most comprehensive treatment plan possible, and we believe the best patient outcomes occur when a multidisciplinary approach is taken.
Throughout this report, you will find examples of how our experienced team of physicians, nurses, medical staff, educators, counselors, dieticians and case managers worked to provide comprehensive patient-centered outpatient services, educational information and emotional support for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
