Screenings, education for the public and ongoing support for those diagnosed with cancer continue to be an integral part of the Center for Cancer Care at St. Luke's. The physicians and staff of St. Luke's Center for Cancer Care participate in a variety of activities that benefit cancer research and treatment. In the past year, this activity included:
  • The American Cancer Society Relay for Life
  • The AMC Cancer Research Center Walks for Women
  • The AMC Cancer Research Center Day of Caring
  • The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
The Center for Cancer Care also participates in the Reach to Recovery program, pairing volunteers who have recovered from breast cancer with patients who are newly diagnosed and facing treatment, and the Look Good, Feel Better program, offered through St. Luke's Social Services Department.

During the past year, the Center for Cancer Care offered two new programs for men. In June, Just for Men offered prostate cancer information and screenings, and Ask the Doctors about Prostate Cancer took place in September. Both programs were well-received and plans are underway to offer them again.

In April, St. Luke's Health & Cancer Education Center brought a series of timely lectures to St. Luke's campus for Cancer Awareness Week. In October, St. Luke's hosted several activities for both employees and the public that brought attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
