St. Luke's Hospital would like to thank National City Bank for the generous support of two $50,000 grants to better serve underserved women who may have been in need of life-saving mammograms.

Through these grants, St. Luke's provided free screening or diagnostic mammograms to approximately 445 patients - five of whom were diagnosed with breast cancer and were subsequently treated. This no-cost initiative eliminated a heavy financial burden that prevents some women from learning their risk of developing small breast cancers that are too small to discover through breast self-examination or even through clinical breast examination.

"I have been going to St. Luke's for years. About three years ago, I lost my job and my insurance. I qualified for the free mammogram program and I was very grateful for that. Thanks to St. Luke's, my pre-cancerous condition was treated. The nursing staff and technicians were very kind and understanding."
Dorothy D.

We look forward to working with local organizations in the future and providing healthcare to those in need.
