The Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) Labs at St. Luke's Hospital provide diagnostic tests for various lung disease including asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and emphysema. These tests help identify causes for shortness of breath and are administered by highly-trained, licensed respiratory therapists. Following the exam, a pulmonologist will provide a detailed course of action to help patients manage or recover from their respiratory disorders. Tests at the PFT labs can also help determine whether certain medications are having the desired effect in specific diseases.
Following an initial exam and diagnosis with the PFT Lab, patients may be referred to the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department to help improve their activity tolerance and increase endurance. The PFT Labs at St. Luke's Hospital are certified by the American Thoracic Society.
