Common sleep problems experienced by young children include resistance to going to bed, difficulty falling asleep, frequent wakings for feedings and nap problems. Children who sleep poorly are often cranky, have a short attention span and may disrupt the sleep of the entire family. Treatment recommendations depend on evaluation of bedtime routine and sleep schedule. Other childhood sleep problems include sleepwalking, bed-wetting, nightmares, sleep terrors and sleep apnea.
