The Sleep Medicine and Research Center is a medical facility for diagnosing and treating patients with sleep-related disorders. These conditions include difficulties falling asleep or staying asleep, breathing problems during sleep, daytime sleepiness and other abnormal occurrences.
The center's staff has evaluated and treated thousands of patients with sleep-related disorders and sleep-exacerbated illnesses. Doctors at the center are certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine.
The center, accredited by the American Sleep Disorders Association, accepts patients referred by a physician, as well as self-referred patients. The patient's physician is informed of all evaluation results. Patients typically are first seen for an office consultation, during which time a detailed history of the sleep problem is obtained, along with a medical history and physical examination.
If necessary, patients are scheduled for a test called polysomnography. This test involves sleeping in the center while physiological recordings are conducted by trained staff. All patient rooms are private. Technical staff members are available for assistance throughout the procedure.
