Spirit of Women
Dancing for Better Health at Day of Dance 2011
Hundreds of women danced their way to better health at the third annual St. Luke's Hospital Day of Dance on Saturday, Feb. 26. The morning was filled with dance demos from hip hop and Zumba to belly dancing and line dancing, health screenings and the chance to talk with St. Luke's physicians and healthcare professionals.
Participants also took part in a new nationwide effort to shine the spotlight on heart attacks in women. St. Luke's unveiled a special dance that day designed to raise awareness of the symptoms of heart attack in women and the importance of calling 9-1-1. The catchy tune, lyrics and choreographed dance are part of "Make a Call, Don't Miss a Beat," a campaign of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women's Health.
Thank you to all the sponsors, supporters and volunteers who helped make it another great event. See you again at next year's Day of Dance - always the last Saturday in February.
