St. Luke's Hospital broke ground in Chesterfield in 1972 and officially opened on June 2, 1975. To celebrate 30 years in Chesterfield, St. Luke's has events planned throughout the summer. A formal reception was held on Monday, May 16 for board members and donors. St. Luke's also sponsored Concerts in the Park on Tuesday, June 7.
When the hospital decided to expand its physical campus to its current location in Chesterfield, the area was on the verge of a population explosion. Today, the area within a 5-mile radius of St. Luke's is one of the most populated areas in the
St. Louis region. St. Luke's also serves a large percentage of residents in rapidly growing St. Charles County. Throughout is 139-year history St. Luke's has had several locations near the epicenter of the St. Louis metro area's residential population including downtown (Washington Avenue) and midtown (Delmar near Union Boulevard).
