St. Luke's Hospital Volunteer Program

Volunteers play an important role at St. Luke's. They help us extend our mission of service to each other and the community. They help promote spiritual, emotional and physical well-being. And, most importantly, volunteers demonstrate care and concern to those in need.

Annually, over 78,000 hours are contributed by caring and enthusiastic individuals who wish to serve their community in a meaningful way. St. Luke's volunteers provide a wide range of services for the hospital. Assignments are based on the individual's interests, skills, schedule and the needs of the hospital. Duties may include running errands, transporting patients, staffing information & reception desks, working in the Gift Shop, and performing clerical work.
  • Adult Volunteer Program: The adult program is offered year round. We are interested in individuals who can make an ongoing commitment of one morning or one afternoon per week. Adult volunteers have a minimum requirement of 40 total hours accumulated over a 10 - 12 week period of time. Of course, most of our adult volunteers stay for years and far exceed the minimum.

  • Student Volunteer Program: Students (age 14 and over) volunteer during the spring, summer or fall semesters. Students make a commitment of one morning, afternoon or evening per week for at least six to eight weeks during the semester. The minimum requirement for students is 24 total hours each semester. All Spring and Summer positions are currently filled. Please check back in August to inquire about next school year's openings.
If you are interested in becoming a hospital volunteer, please complete and return the volunteer application. We will set up an interview appointment to discuss the program.

Once selected, you must agree to a physical assessment (including urine drug screen, tuberculosis test, flu shot and vaccination review) and to undergo a criminal background check (social security number is required). As soon as the clearance process is completed, you will join other volunteers who are an integral part of St. Luke's atmosphere of compassion and respect for those we serve.
