St. Luke's Hospital Requiring Healthcare Team to Receive COVID-19 Vaccine

Chesterfield, Mo. , June 25, 2021
St. Luke’s Hospital is requiring its team members, volunteers, physicians, licensed independent practitioners who provide care within its facilities and essential vendors with patient contact to be vaccinated against COVID-19 by August 13, 2021.

“As a healthcare leader in our community, we are responsible for doing everything we can to care for and protect our patients and their families during their most vulnerable times,” said Shane Cerone, St. Luke’s Hospital president and chief executive officer. “We want to continue providing the safest environment possible for them and for our healthcare team to further our mission of improving the health of the community.”

Receiving the vaccine greatly helps prevent the spread of COVID-19, and the majority of St. Luke’s healthcare team is fully vaccinated. This announcement comes at a time as variants of the virus are surging in southern Missouri and other parts of the state.

“Over the past year, our community joined together with the common goal of beating COVID-19,” said J. William Campbell, MD, infectious diseases and medical director of St. Luke’s Medical Group. “We must all continue to do our part and take advantage of our access to the COVID-19 vaccine, a very safe and effective advancement in the fight against this virus, to help bring an end to the pandemic.”
