Cardiothoracic Surgery

Distinguished Surgery Experience
For nearly two decades, St. Luke's cardiothoracic surgeons have been working closely with cardiologists to coordinate care and achieve optimal patient outcomes.

St. Luke's provides a full scope of surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve replacement and repair, aneurysm, aortic dissection repair, thoracic surgery and pacemaker implantation.

The cardiothoracic surgeons provide an individualized approach to the surgical needs of their patients. St. Luke's has extensive experience in coronary bypass surgery off-pump, in which surgeons operate on the beating heart, without putting the patient on a heart/lung machine.

Radial artery grafting is another procedure that St. Luke's can provide its patients. The benefit of using the radial artery, as opposed to the more traditional use of the saphenous vein, is that it provides increased arterial longevity.

The team approach ensures the quality patient care that differentiates St. Luke's from other providers. The surgeons have long-term relationships with an excellent team of cardiologists and clinical staff. Patients consistently compliment the superior post-operative nursing care. St. Luke's nursing staff has the knowledge and expertise that comes with the long-standing commitment of its team members. On average, the length of employment for St. Luke's cardiovascular nurses is 12 years, while many nurses dedicate over 20 years of service.
