Women & Cardiac Services
The statistics for women and heart disease are staggering. Heart attack, stroke and other cardiovascular diseases have killed more women than men every year since 1984. Half of all heart attacks in the United States are experienced by women. According to the National Institutes of Health, many women feel they are not as susceptible to heart attacks as men and do not recognize the symptoms that are unique to women. Therefore, women tend to wait to be treated for a heart attack.
St. Luke's Hospital strives to recognize these issues by providing diagnostic evaluation and a full range of treatment options for women with cardiac disease.
