Screenings, education for the public and ongoing support for those diagnosed with cancer continue to be an integral part of the Center for Cancer Care at St. Luke's. The physicians and staff of St. Luke's Center for Cancer Care participate in a variety of activities that benefit cancer research and treatment. In the past year, this activity included:

  • The AMC Cancer Research Center Day of Caring
  • Yoga for Cancer Patients in Cooperation with the Wellness Committee
  • Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure
The Center for Cancer Care also participates in the American Cancer Society patient programs: Reach to Recovery , pairing volunteers who have recovered from breast cancer with patients who are newly diagnosed and facing treatment, and Look Good, Feel Better , offered through St. Luke's Social Services Department.

The Center for Cancer Care also offers a program that includes prostate cancer information and screenings called Just for Men . In April, St. Luke's hosted several activities for both employees and the public that brought attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month . They included:
  • What You Can Do When You Can't Smoke There Anymore?
  • What is Chemotherapy?
  • Where to Go for Help?
  • What is Radiation Therapy?
  • How I Got Through Therapy: Patient Pearls of Wisdom
