GI Lab

St. Luke's state-of-the-art Gastrointestinal Laboratory (GI Lab) offers a convenient, specialized facility solely dedicated to the performance of gastrointestinal procedures. The GI Lab provides a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for areas of the digestive tract including: esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas and small and large intestine or colon.

St. Luke's physicians, who have advanced training in digestive diseases, examine patients by performing endoscopic procedures. Endoscopic procedures help doctors to diagnose and treat conditions of the GI tract by using a thin, flexible tube (called an endoscope) to examine the lining of the digestive tract. The endoscope has its own lens and light source, allowing the physician to view images on a video monitor. Depending on the location of the symptoms, the doctor chooses from a variety of endoscopic procedures to diagnose and treat problems and diseases of the digestive tract.

Procedures include:

  • Colonoscopy
  • Upper Endoscopy (also called Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) or Panendoscopy)
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
  • Capsule Endoscopy
  • Ph and Motility Testing
  • Endoscopic Ultrasound
