This fun new 6-week program consists of modified barre exercises and stretches danced with music and done with an artistic edge. Bone Builder's/Therapeutic Yoga
Therapeutic/Bone Builder yoga class is for those diagnosed with osteoporosis/osteopenia, cardiopulmonary disease or orthopedic conditions. This is a 7-week session designed to aid in improving flexibility, increasing core strength, and managing stress.

The CHAIR class includes only standing and sitting poses (no floor/mat poses). The MAT class includes standing and floor/mat poses, with the chair used as a prop, and you must be comfortable getting up and down from the floor without assistance.

Students can make up any missed classes at any other bone builder yoga classes within the 7 week session. Please assist us by registering for one or more classes per week below, but if you have questions call 314-205-6881.

Bone Builders Exercise Program

Bootcamp Yoga
This class will be a more challenging form of Yoga. The different forms will include Sun A, B and C, Fusion which is a combination of Yoga, Fitness, Pilates and Barre (Typical classes run 8-15 reps but we will do the 15 reps that will be a combination of eccentric, concentric and isometric movements), Power Yoga (will use body weight to challenge lower and upper body plus a lot of core combined with cardio and balance. This is a Vinyasa type of Yoga), Ashtanga (Ancient style of Yoga that Power and Hatha Yoga have evolved Fast pace (cardio effect) using body weight beginning with standing postures then seated postures with Vinyasas in between each seated posture.) and Yin (Very popular style of Yoga used by athletic coaches. Poses are held for 1 1/2-2 minutes for a half hour class. This type of yoga has great benefits as when the poses are held at least 1 1/2 minutes it goes beyond the muscle and connective tissue to the fascia, ligaments and joints). Deep forward flexion, side bends and twisting of the thoracic and lumber spine will be included.

Diabetes Exercise Program
St. Luke's Wellness Center offers the Diabetes Exercise Program (DEP) for active or relatively healthy individuals with diabetes or pre-diabetes. This program is ideal for those who desire an independent home or gym-based program designed specifically for their needs. Those who have had a cardiac event in the past year or have a history of heart failure may be referred to outpatient cardiac rehab prior to joining the DEP.

Essentrics: Release, Rebalance & Restore (6-week)
Essentrics is a gentle age-reversing workout that will restore movement in your joints, flexibility and strength in your muscles and relieve pain while increasing your energy level. One-On-One Fitness Plus Program
St. Luke's One-on-One Fitness Plus Program allows individuals to work personally with a trained fitness professional in order to assess and regain their physical well-being following a health-related event and those wishing to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Staff members assist individuals throughout each session to ensure proper exercise techniques and safety on equipment. Special attention is given towards personal goals in order to enhance their physical fitness levels, reduce pain, improve balance, strengthen muscles and restore range of motion. St. Luke's Supervised Exercise program provides focused guidance from trained fitness professionals for those looking for a more independent workout routine, for those wishing to maintain a healthy lifestyle and for those following a health-related event. The Supervised Exercise Program also includes personalized instruction on proper equipment utilization and blood pressure, heart rate and if, appropriate, EKG checks.

Topics include nutrition selection, pharmaceuticals, behavioral modifications and lifestyle information. This course provides for ample class time and reinforcement of exercises and information with its twice weekly schedule. It is ideal for someone new to Total Control, or someone who wants a thorough review of the concepts and exercises. This course meets for 75 minutes two times a week for 7 weeks. Total Control EXPRESS Class
This course integrates specific core training exercises and educational discussions to help women improve their pelvic health and wellness. This "Express" version of the course is condensed, fast-paced, and has the advantage of squeezing into your schedule. Yoga for Those Impacted by Cancer
This class is for those currently in cancer treatment, survivors and caregivers. Class is designed to boost immune system, increase flexibility and strength and promote relaxation. A chair is used as a prop if needed for standing postures. No yoga experience necessary. This class meets Wednesdays but does not typically meet on the last Wednesday of the month.
