St. Luke's Hospital's President and CEO Announces Retirement

Chesterfield, Mo., January 30, 2014 - Gary Olson, president and CEO of St. Luke's Hospital for the last 15 years, has announced his intention to retire effective January 2015 after a 36-year career at St. Luke's. By announcing his decision a year in advance, Mr. Olson feels it gives the board of directors adequate time to find the right replacement.

"Gary has been an outstanding leader at St. Luke's for decades and a terrific CEO leading St. Luke's to become recognized as one of the top 50 hospitals in the United States for the last seven years. He has been instrumental in building a strong foundation of excellence at St. Luke's, centered on quality patient care, which will serve as a platform for the new CEO and our hospital for years to come," stated Annie C. Schlafly, chairman of the board of directors for the hospital.

A search committee has been formed and a nationwide search for an outside candidate, as well as reviewing internal candidates, will begin immediately. Mr. Olson will continue as president and CEO until that search has successfully identified the best replacement and he or she is in place.
