Vascular Lab
St. Luke's Vascular Lab was the first in Missouri to be fully accredited by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories and continues to hold this accreditation. All exams are performed by experienced vascular technologists and are interpreted by board certified surgeons.
The Vascular Lab performs non-invasive tests of blood flow in arteries and veins.
The vascular tests provide:
- Assessments of arteries of the arms and legs to help diagnose vascular disease.
- Assessments of the veins to determine the presence of blood clots or poorly functioning valves;
- Information about blood flow to the brain for patients with stroke or stroke-like symptoms; and
- Images of bypass grafts to the limbs, noting abnormalities.
St. Luke's Vascular Lab actively participates in:
- Productivity studies;
- Ongoing quality assessments to ensure high accuracy rates for diagnostic non-invasive exams;
- Monthly interdepartmental vascular seminars to collaborate about patients and remain abreast of new developments in vascular technology;
- Hospital-wide process improvement team; and
- National research studies, such as one involving treatment of deep venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.
