Chew on This: Foods That Keep You Healthy
Every day, you make decisions about what to eat, but how much do think about WHAT you are putting in your body? Better food choices significantly impact your wellbeing and can reduce your risk for developing preventable chronic diseases. This class will provide strategies to include more foods that promote wellbeing and tips to eliminate foods that do not benefit your health. St. Luke's Hospital Nutrition Wellness & Diabetes Center offers individual education sessions and group classes. A physician's order is required. Sessions may be covered under your insurance plan. Each person should contact their claim information hotline to determine coverage.

Diabetes Exercise Program
St. Luke's Wellness Center offers the Diabetes Exercise Program (DEP) for active or relatively healthy individuals with diabetes or pre-diabetes. This program is ideal for those who desire an independent home or gym-based program designed specifically for their needs. Those who have had a cardiac event in the past year or have a history of heart failure may be referred to outpatient cardiac rehab prior to joining the DEP.

Healthy Weigh Program
Do you want to lose weight and improve your health? Have you been diagnosed with pre-diabetes and want to prevent type 2 diabetes? Join us for a 12-week program with proven results. Using the University of Pittsburgh Diabetes Prevention Program: Group Lifestyle Balance Program, our registered dietitian will help you implement lifestyle changes to reduce weight, improve your health and reduce your risk of getting type 2 diabetes. How Sweet Are You? Know Your Risk for Diabetes.
To assess your risk, it's important to know your risk factors and your average blood glucose level. This screening is designed for people at risk of type 2 diabetes or for people with a history of diabetes who wish to better manage their health. The session includes a non-fasting A1C blood test (finger stick with immediate results), blood pressure and a one-on-one consultation with a certified diabetes educator.

Whether diabetes is new in your life or you have been living with it and feel you need to gain control, this program gives you the knowledge and tools to better manage your health.
