Girl Talk: Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful is a free program that offers preteen girls ages 11 and older a chance to celebrate their individuality and spend an informative, inspiring and fun afternoon with the important adults who have a positive influence in their lives. Interactive sessions and health experts will remind them why they need to recognize their inner beauty, celebrate their differences and focus on their positive attributes as they navigate through the preteen years and beyond. Space is limited.
NEW! Musical performance by Liana Valle
Liana Valle is a junior at Parkway South High School. She is active in several school clubs including Peer Teaching, where junior and senior students are trained to introduce topics about decision making and self-esteem to seventh grade classrooms. The peer teachers present the program at Southwest Middle School and South Middle School. For her creative outlet, she enjoys acting and singing. She is a self-taught guitar and ukulele player and writes songs to help her express her emotions. She will be performing The River, a song she wrote during her freshman year of high school.

Girls in the Know Program
Girls in the Know is an organization designed to educate and empower mothers and their pre-teen daughters. Led by professionals, this 4-week interactive speaker series touches on topics such as self-esteem, friendships, health and nutrition, body image, safety, bullying and the challenges of puberty. The mission of this program is healthy communication between mothers and daughters through education that will encourage pre-teen girls to make positive choices as they mature into adulthood. This program is for beginning babysitters (boys and girls) ages 11 and older to help make their babysitting experience a success. Topics include safety, first-aid and child development. Participants receive a babysitting book, tote bag and certificate of completion. Water and a snack will be provided.
