Girls in the Know Program
Girls in the Know is an organization designed to educate and empower mothers and their pre-teen daughters. Led by professionals, this 4-week interactive speaker series touches on topics such as self-esteem, friendships, health and nutrition, body image, safety, bullying and the challenges of puberty. The mission of this program is healthy communication between mothers and daughters through education that will encourage pre-teen girls to make positive choices as they mature into adulthood. Home Alone
This program is designed especially for children ages 9 and 10 who may be staying home alone for the first time or need to learn more skills for parents to be comfortable leaving them home alone. Topics include handling the unexpected, stranger danger, simple first aid, dealing with loneliness and boredom, storm safety, trust and honesty.
Child may not be registered for Home Alone and Sitter Skills on the same day.

Little Medical School Mini Course
Little Medical School offers a variety of classes for children (ages 5 to 12), and brings medicine, science and the importance of health in an entertaining, exciting and fun way. Visit littlemedicalschool.com or call 1-440-610-5394 for class titles, dates, locations and fees.

Sitter Skills
This program was developed for beginning baby-sitters, girls and boys, age 11 and older to help make their baby-sitting experience a success. The class will cover: basic information needed before you start baby-sitting, safety information, first-aid and child development. Each baby-sitter receives a participation certificate, baby-sitting handbook and bag. A light snack is provided. Classes taught by St. Luke's health educators.
Child may not be registered for Home Alone and Sitter Skills on the same day.

Sleep Issues in Young Children (for parents only)
Children need adequate sleep to learn and grow, yet sleep problems are quite common. Join Nancy Birkenmeier, BSN, RN, from St. Luke's Sleep Medicine and Research Center for a discussion about common sleep problems, strategies to ensure optimal amount and quality of sleep, sleeping alone versus co-sleeping, the practice of "cry it out" and more.
