Dr. Mennes joined St. Luke's medical staff in 1977 and soon became the section chief of nephrology in the department of internal medicine. He was instrumental in enhancing St. Luke's internal medicine residency program among many other accomplishments. During his tenure as chief of medicine, St. Luke's achieved recognition from Healthgrades for being the only St. Louis hospital on the America's 50 Best Hospitals list since its inception in 2007.
