Patient Support Services

Providing resources for total well-being.

To ensure you receive well-rounded care, St. Luke's St. Luke's Des Peres Hospital provides a wealth of patient support services. We're here to help you on your path to well-being.
Hospital support services
St. Luke's St. Luke's Des Peres Hospital offers:
  • Classes and community events on a wide range of topics because we believe education is key to good health.
  • A hospital newsletter for the latest hospital news, events and health research.
  • Interpretation services for any patient who is not fluent in English, who is sensory impaired or has other special needs.
  • A spiritual care team available for both patients and families.
Spiritual support
For many people, spiritual support plays a large role in the healing process. At St. Luke's St. Luke's Des Peres Hospital, we encourage patients of all faiths to receive visits and spiritual or sacramental support from their own clergy. If your own spiritual advisor is unavailable, or if you would like to receive Holy Communion, ask your nurse to contact our Spiritual Care team for you.

The hospital chapel is located on the fourth floor, off the main hospital lobby. Visitors of all faiths are welcome for worship services, prayer and meditation. Holy Communion is distributed by request. Please notify the nursing staff if you'd like to receive Holy Communion.
Interpretive language service
We want to remove the barriers of communication between patients, their families and our medical team. If you're not fluent in English, or have other communication needs, please let us know.

Language interpreters
Our language interpreters are available to help facilitate communications with any patient who's not fluent in English. We can provide interpreters to communicate in the language you are most comfortable speaking. Your nurse will coordinate these services upon request. It's recommended that you use a medical interpreter instead of a family member or friend, as it's important that medical information is translated accurately so that you can make informed healthcare decisions.

Sensory-impaired
For the sensory-impaired, St. Luke's St. Luke's Des Peres Hospital can provide sensory-impaired patients and the sensory-impaired relatives of patients the following services at zero additional cost: interpreters, TDD, captioning, Braille materials, qualified readers and/or other auxiliary aids upon request.

Televisions
Captioned televisions are available in all patient rooms and common areas with TVs, they are equipped with caption capability (or caption decoders for standard televisions sets).

Telephones
St. Luke's St. Luke's Des Peres Hospital has access to TDDs or telephones with amplified sound and hearing aid compatibility.

Other special needs
If you have special needs and/or need specialized equipment, please advise your nurse.
