About St. Luke's Hospital
St. Luke's Hospital is an independent, nonprofit, community-teaching hospital committed to improving the quality of life for its patients and the community. Since its founding in 1866, St. Luke's has grown from a single hospital location to an advanced network of care providing personalized healthcare services in over 60 specialty areas at its 493-bed hospital in Chesterfield, MO. St. Luke's is nationally recognized for high quality and safe care, consistently earning high patient satisfaction scores. In St. Louis, St. Luke's is the exclusive alliance provider for the nation's No. 1 heart hospital, the Cleveland Clinic Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute.
At St. Luke's Hospital, the people are everything. During my interviews for a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency, I immediately noticed a difference at St. Luke's. The preceptors were kind, welcoming, and had a genuine interest in cultivating my success. After completing two years of residency here, those same incredible preceptors have become my co-workers and friends. I chose to stay at St. Luke's because the quality of patient care, and just as importantly the people who provide it, are exceptional.
"I chose St. Luke's due to the close-knit preceptor group and the clear emphasis on their residents and their genuine interest in training their residents to be the best they can be. I also really enjoy the personal relationships that we develop throughout the year with other members of the team, and working with medical residents is a unique opportunity to grow alongside them and develop new relationships and skills that will translate into my professional career."
I chose St. Luke's because of its exceptional program and the opportunity to build meaningful personal and professional connections. What I've enjoyed most is the genuinely friendly and welcoming environment, from both the pharmacy department and hospital as a whole. St. Luke's is a place where I feel supported while continuing to grow professionally.
When I was interviewing with different residency programs, I was primarily looking for a program that would support its residents throughout. I felt that way almost immediately with St. Luke's. Interviewers took time to get to know me, and when I officially started my residency at St. Luke's, that continued. Everyone feels genuinely supportive and cares about your well-being, which I highly value.
The St. Luke's Hospital's residency program distinguished itself to me during the interview process because everyone was welcoming and inviting on campus. Having transitioned from a different PGY1 program, the preceptor group has done a great job helping me get acclimated to a new health care facility. Preceptors are willing to optimize rotations to accommodate my learning interests and to further enhance the skills I want to develop further. The St. Luke's Hospital residency program provides a great opportunity to experience a variety of learning opportunities to develop into a well-rounded pharmacist.
"Since the first day I stepped onto St. Luke's Hospital grounds I've been greeted and welcomed with open arms to an institution where the mentors and peers alongside me put my growth and development as a future clinician to the top of the priority list. Being new to St. Louis (and Missouri), the pharmacy family and St. Luke's, has made the transition easier than I could have ever imagined by offering aid and resources to help me settle in smoothly. St. Luke's Hospital is nothing short of a reservoir of clinical challenges asking to be tackled as I am excited for the experiences ahead knowing I'm in good hands to help develop me into a proficient well-rounded clinical pharmacist."
When looking at residency programs, I wanted to find a program that promoted a positive, healthy learning environment. Through the multitude of learning experiences and opportunities to work closely with medical residents, physicians, and other health professionals, St. Luke's Hospital provides the environment that I hoped to find in a residency program. The residency preceptors care greatly about the learning experience and are constantly improving my clinical skills.
I chose St. Luke’s because of how welcomed I felt after meeting the pharmacy staff. Their kindness and genuine support stood out immediately, and I was excited to join a team that truly values its residents.

About St. Louis
St. Louis, Missouri, is a vibrant city with a rich history and a quirky charm that sets it apart from other Midwest destinations. Known as the Gateway to the West, this city boasts the iconic Gateway Arch, a stunning stainless-steel monument that symbolizes westward expansion in the United States. But beyond its famous arch, St. Louis has its fair share of offbeat attractions, like the City Museum, a whimsical wonderland of tunnels and slides crafted from salvaged materials. One delightful culinary quirk you'll find here is toasted ravioli, a local delicacy that's a must-try. These bite-sized pasta pockets, filled with meat or cheese, are breaded, and deep-fried to golden perfection, offering a delicious twist on traditional Italian fare. St. Louis's unique blend of history, culture, and culinary adventures makes it an exciting place to live and work, and St. Luke's Hospital in nearby Chesterfield is proud to be a part of this vibrant community, offering exceptional healthcare services to its residents.
