Abe Hawatmeh, MD, FACS, is a board-certified urologist at St. Luke’s and founder of South County Urological. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, former Chief of Urology at St. Anthony’s Medical Center, and assistant clinical professor of urology at Saint Louis University.

He earned his medical degree at the University of Parma, Italy, then trained in the U.S. with a cardiovascular-thoracic surgery fellowship at Northwestern Children’s Memorial Hospital and a urology residency at Saint Louis University. At Saint Louis University, Dr. Hawatmeh received a National Kidney Foundation research fellowship before founding South County Urological in 1981.

A long-standing figure in the St. Louis urology community, Dr. Abe Hawatmeh brings decades of surgical experience to his practice. His clinic focuses on vasectomies, enlarged prostate, female incontinence, kidney stones, and inguinal hernias. He specializes in prosthetic urology, performing complex procedures for incontinence and ED—such as artificial urinary sphincters and penile prostheses—that go beyond general urologic care.

Dr. Hawatmeh is a member of several professional associations, including the American Urological Association and Physicians Who Care.
