Dr. Blum earned her undergraduate degree at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, graduating with honors. She attended medical school in Kirksville, Missouri. She completed her internship at Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan and then completed dermatology residency at Michigan State University.
