Pediatric Services at St. Luke's

The Pediatric Division at St. Luke's Hospital is staffed 24 hours a day by board-certified pediatricians and pediatric nurses. The entire staff has a special interest in helping children and strives to meet not only the physical and psychological needs of the child, but also the emotional needs of the entire family. St. Luke's pediatric hospitalists take care of patients in the Pediatric Unit, Labor and Delivery, Nursery and in the Emergency Department. Pediatric hospitalists are pediatricians who specialize in the care of children while they are in the hospital. While in the hospital, your child will be seen daily by the pediatric hospitalist, who will coordinate care with your child's primary care physician.

Our staff is specifically trained to deal with the emotions of younger patients. We will do our best to answer your questions to put you and your child at ease throughout the entire process.

Pediatric Sleep Services

When a child sleeps poorly, the health of the entire family is affected. Children with sleep problems are often:
  • irritable
  • have shortened attention spans
  • have trouble separating from their parents

All of which can have a negative impact on parents and siblings. Don't let your child's sleep problems become a nightmare for the whole family. If your child has sleep problems that persist for more than a few nights, it's time to seek help. The first step is to talk with your child's pediatrician, who may refer you to the center.

The Sleep Medicine and Research Center evaluates children for a variety of sleep disturbances. In some cases, children snore or breathe noisily while sleeping. Our certified sleep specialists can help you determine if the sleep problem is medical or behavioral in nature.

The Sleep Medicine and Research Center can also work with parents to address issues related to nightmares, sleep terrors, sleepwalking, bed-wetting and other abnormal occurrences during sleep.
