Risk assessment
St. Luke's offers a risk assessment program as part of a woman's annual mammogram appointment because we want to give women every advantage in the fight against breast cancer. Being aware of one's risk allows a woman to take an active role in reducing her chances for developing breast cancer or catching it early, when it's most treatable.

Breast Ultrasound

  • Diagnostic breast ultrasound
  • SonoCiné - automated whole breast ultrasound: This computer-guided whole breast ultrasound is used as a supplementary examination of the breasts to help find smaller cancers that may be missed by mammography alone. It is especially useful in women with dense breasts or breast implants. The St. Luke's Women's Center is the only provider in the St. Louis area that offers the SonoCiné exam. Learn more about SonoCiné.

Breast MRI
Breast MRI can be more sensitive to certain changes in the breast tissue and, when used with mammography, may provide additional information regarding your breast health.

PET scan
A breast positron emission tomography (PET) scan is an imaging test that can help identify areas of cancer that an MRI or CT scan may miss.

Minimally-invasive image-guided breast biopsy:

St. Luke's offers the latest in 3D breast biopsy to patients for diagnosing breast cancer, the first in west St. Louis County to do so. Using the Hologic Affirm™ breast biopsy guidance system, it provides 3D image-guided biopsies for use as a follow-up to mammograms with suspicious findings.

Bone Mineral Density testing (DXA)
