St. Luke’s Earns an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group

Spring 2026 Safety Grade is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety

Chesterfield, MO., MAY 6, 2026 - St. Luke’s is pleased to announce that it has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.

"This 'A' Safety Grade means everything to me because I know what it represents; thousands of moments every single day where our nurses, physicians, and care teams chose to do the right thing for our patients, even when no one was watching,” said St. Luke’s Chief Nursing Executive, Dr. Kimberly Foxworth. “Patient safety is not something we achieve and move on from; it is a living commitment that our team renews with every patient encounter and every time they speak up when something doesn't feel right. Our community places an enormous amount of trust in us, and this recognition tells me that trust is well placed. I could not be prouder of this team, and I am deeply honored to lead them."

“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that St. Luke’s is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The

Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”

Leapfrog assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections.
