About
Salim Hawatmeh, MD, FACS, is a board-certified urologist at St. Luke’s and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He grew up in St. Louis and graduated cum laude from MICDS. He then graduated from Stanford University and St. Louis University School of Medicine. He trained in urology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He was recognized with the Gerald P. Murphy Scholar Award for distinction in prostate cancer research during his residency.
Dr. Hawatmeh specializes in robotic surgery, including robotic prostatectomy with nerve-sparing technique for prostate cancer. He also performs robotic kidney-sparing surgeries for cancer and reconstructive procedures. He performs all surgeries for enlarged prostate, kidney stones, incontinence, and erectile dysfunction. He is recognized as one of the most versatile and experienced surgeons in the field, performing high volumes of every operation with highest quality outcomes. He was voted a Castle Connolly Top Doctor by his peers, is a frequent guest on news and radio shows for his expertise, and is one of the leading vasectomy and men’s health urologists in St. Louis.
He has presented research at national and academic meetings, including the American Urological Association and the Mayo Clinic. He is a member of the American Urological Association, the American Medical Association, the St. Louis Metropolitan Medical Society, and the Mayo Fellows association.
