About

Umraan Saeed Ahmad, MD, is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon at St. Luke’s who specializes in cardiac and thoracic surgery for adults.

He provides care for patients with heart and valve conditions, including coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic and mitral valve surgery, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, transcatheter mitral valve therapies, aortic aneurysm repair, re-operative cardiac surgery and surgical treatment of atrial fibrillation. He has expertise in structural heart disease and advanced heart failure. Dr. Ahmad has been an investigator for new structural techniques since the inception of the field and continues to teach and consult around the country.

Dr. Ahmad earned his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He completed general surgery training at Mayo Clinic and Kansas University Medical Center, thoracic surgery training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and advanced heart failure fellowship training at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Ahmad believes in a collaborative approach to care, helping patients understand their condition and treatment options so they can make confident decisions about their health.
